about kawali made
The food I cook is uniquely Filipino-American, inspired by the foods I ate growing up and the foods I love to eat now. Some recipes are strongly rooted in traditional Filipino cuisine, while others are evolutions of dishes, influenced by my Chicagoland-roots, my home here in the Bay Area and everywhere in between.
Kawali is a traditional Filipino wok and an essential piece of cookware found in all Filipino kitchens. My kawali originally belonged to my lola (grandma), and every time I cook with it, I’m reminded of the love and care she and my mother put into every family meal. Kawali Made is a collection of recipes and stories, a love letter to the home cooks who raised me and to Filipino-American cuisine and culture.
